Your favourite books?
inb4: "Books? What is that?"
So, in case people do still read, I'd like to know what you read and what are your favourite books.
I'd recommend Otherland by Tad Williams, a great quadrilogy, I already read it twice.
"It is set in a world in which technology has advanced somewhat beyond the present. The most notable advancement is the widespread availability of full-immersion virtual reality installations, which allow people from all walks of life to access an online world, called simply the Net. The proposed ability to immerse oneself fully in a simulation gives a great deal of artistic freedom, and the story winds through alternate interpretations of many classical literary works such as Through the Looking-Glass, The Odyssey and The Iliad, The War of the Worlds, and The Wizard of Oz, which are available as entertainment simulations within the series."
I also loved Snow Crash , a Science Fiction/Cyber Punk novel.

Re: Your favourite books?
The Great Book of Amber is a favorite of mine. It's by Roger Zelazny - a renowned science fiction author. However, this collection of 10 books is a fantasy novel, and a damn good one, at that. Not fantasy like elves and shit. It's fantasy with elements of sci-fi in it (like parallel universes, for example). I strongly recommend it.
Another favorite of mine is American Gods by Neil Gaiman, who happens to be my favorite author. American Gods is about America, as Christian as it is, worshiping technology instead of deities, and the "old gods" (Norse, mainly) trying to gain footholds in the country.
Also by Neil Gaiman worth reading are Neverwhere (set in London. A book about a hidden city below London, which no one knows about, and everything is very, very different), Stardust (I can't remember the exact plot, sorry), and Anansi Boys (set in the same universe as American Gods, this one focuses on the son of Loki, Anansi the spider. At least, I'm pretty sure it was Loki).
Brahm Stoker's Dracula and The Historian by Elizabeth Kostova make for a fantastic two-part series. The Historian is written very much like Dracula, and is intended to be a sequel to it. They're both excellent books.
Fuck Twilight, by the way.
As Psycho mentioned in his quote, The Odyssey and The Iliad are both great.
All I've got for now :> Psycho, those sound pretty good. I'll try to check them out sometime.

Re: Your favourite books?
My all time favourite must be "Sturz in die Unterwelt" by Damon Knight (engl.: The World and Thorinn) . I stumbled across this book in a mall once when I was a teenager, and must have re-read it around 20 times the past years.
There are too many other awesome books I've read to remember every single one now.
Few of those I liked the most are of course:
Anne Rice - The Vampire Chronicles
H.G. Wells - The Time Machine
Henri Charrière - Papillon
Oscar Wilde - The Picture of Dorian Gray
and many more I've forgot because it's too long ago I've last read them.

Ah, Otherland. It has been a long time since I've read that, Psycho. I'm going to have to re-read it some time. It was awfully long, though. ;P
Another series of books that I liked were the Wheel of Time series along with, of course, all of the Terry Pratchett Discworld books.

Re: Your favourite books?
Who doesn't like discworld books. I'm re-reading the Wee free men books atm.
I also like Phillip Pullmans Dark Matters trilogy. Roald Dahl books cause they remind me of my Childhood. Also a Series of Unfortunate events and Darren Shan's Demonata Books. Read a few of the Spiderwick chroincles books. I'm a big Harry Potter fan, also like Garth Nix's Sabriel Lirial and Abhorsen books and the Black Magician trilogy. Liked Long way down but can't find the book/remember authors name, and the Book i've probably re-read most (cause i did it for English) was the Curious incident with the dog in the night time. Oh, and ofcourse the chronicles of Narnia. Can't remember/ be bothered to look for any others atm... thanks for asking though.
