My assessment of F.E.A.R. 1

I was thoroughly unamused by the game. It had very little storyline, spread out between annoyingly long combat areas. Speaking of which, combat downright sucked. It was constantly the same enemies. With the same weapons. Occasionally a new gun would show up, but there would be so little ammo around to use, it was pointless to carry in your limited 3 slots.

Combat was by far my least favorite part. Aside from the weapons, the enemies were the same. Some might compare it to hl2, but even that has more variety than this. HL2, you go from CP, to zombies, to antlions, to a long section of combine. This, you go from clone things, to more clones, to even more clones. Then theres some clones that are dressed up as security, but they're using the same weapons and have the same HP and AI, so basically just the same clones. Variety plox?

The scare factor was barely even there. There was maybe 1 or 2 spots where I jumped, and that was just the physics engine glitching out, causing some small prop to spam sounds. In comparison, a HL2 mod, Nightmare House 2, had much more "scare" in it.

Overall, I give this a 4/10. Hopefully FEAR 2 will be more entertaining? (less combat, more story/scares plox)

There's LOTS of story in it. Find computers / disks / PDAs laying around and press the use button.

I did. You know how in the beginning it said there was a battalion of soldiers? (about 1000). After I had killed about 750, I got tired of using guns and just started meleeing everything.


And there aren't PDA's or Documents or anything in Fear 1. Fear 2 yes. Fear 1, NO. There are PC's, and they just have some dude tell you info on it, which is barely anything.

I liked fear 1 and i liked fear 2
the fear story line is one of my favs (and yes their is a story) just go google it if you have to.

Finished Fear 2. I was happy when i found that E was use and F was flashlight. Even had more differentiating combat, and introduced that fancy powered armor vehicle thing. Definitely better than the first.
